Lincoln, Nebraska – On Friday, April 25, 2008, Pickering Creative Group hosted a “Go See It” event for local Tiger Cub Scout Pack 56, Den 13. The group of first-grade boys from Fredstrom Elementary in northwest Lincoln were studying the concept of magic and understanding the difference between reality and magic.
“We live in a world where special effects and enhanced images surround us,” stated Bernice Westerholt, a den mother for the pack. “Sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish a real image from one that has been manipulated. By visiting Pickering’s graphic design department, the boys saw first hand how images they view daily may not be what they seem, much like magic,” added Westerholt.
Pickering graphic designer Scott Claypool presented the pack with an interactive visual demonstration, followed by a question and answer session.
“Inviting the Boy Scouts to our office was another way for Pickering to connect with the Lincoln community. It also gave us the opportunity to share our passion and knowledge with another generation,” stated Chad Pomajzl, Vice President of Pickering Creative Group. “Not only did we educate the boys, but we may have opened their eyes to a new world of interest,” added Pomajzl.
