Community Website Wins Award - 12/7/09 |
 The communities of Red Cloud and Guide Rock, Nebraska recently received an award for outstanding community website in the under 2,500 population category of the Websites for Growth program. The awards were presented at the 2009 Governor’s Conference on Rural Development on November 6.
Designed and developed by Pickering Creative Group, www.RedCloudGuideRock.com provides information for residents, prospective residents, and visitors. The site showcases a unique design that features stunning photography of local scenery, residents, and community events.
A community website is its gateway to the world. Research shows that community websites are the number one marketing tool for economic development, especially for recruiting new businesses and residents. Prospective new residents are typically looking for information on quality of life, including safety and security, access to medical facilities, availability of recreational facilities, quality of medical care, and affordable housing. The Websites for Growth program is funded through a grant from the Nebraska Information Technology Commission’s Community Technology Fund.
